We really appreciate our guests taking the time and trouble to leave reviews. Its much appreciated. We also have reviews on third party websites like tripadvisor etc.
We have just had our first visit to Ash Lodge and delighted. The lodge is in a wonderful position and it was so soothing to go to sleep with the sound of the river and then waking up to the wonderful views.
We saw a kingfisher also the heron. Great to see kites overhead.
Ash Lodge was warm, spotless and well equipped.
We loved being there and look forward to returning.
It was a lovely gesture to have David phone to check all was well.
Night skies amazing!
Thank you again.

A second relaxing visit to the lodge - our last review in the visitors book was to say that here was “a keeper” and we still feel the same.
On a slightly different tack I would like to comment on David’s integrity - we had originally booked for May but this had to be cancelled due to Covid. Unlike other holiday bookings we read about at the time David offered a refund, however, we chose to rebook for the week in September and will do so again in the future.
Just home from a fabulous week at Ash Lodge. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. The position of the lodge means it is actually quite private, with most of the windows looking out to the river and beyond. Loved spotting the kingfishers whizzing to and fro. For most of the week we had sheep for neighbours in the field opposite. Then late one afternoon the sheep were herded out of the field by a woman on horseback.
Pre-ordered Sunday roast from the Crown in the village along with take away beer. So tasty and plenty of it. Michelle is a very cheerful landlady in trying times.
Also lots of long walks from the lodge into the hills with a pub lunch in Clun or Purslow before heading home to our lovely spot by the river.
We had another wonderful week at Ash Lodge, it’s such a beautiful and peaceful spot, and we enjoyed lots of walks from the doorstep and within a short drive. Our children, 6 & 4, love it here, playing in the river, watching the kingfishers and dippers, and of course a little drink at the Crown!
We stayed at ash lodge Monday to Friday and it was our first time staying. We found the lodge perfect with everything you could want catered for. The location is just superb for a relaxing stay. We fished the river and caught trout and grayling. We saw the kingfisher and plenty of red kites and also had a visit from the guinea fowl next door. The weather wasn’t brilliant but it didn’t hamper our stay, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our boys age 9 and 14 enjoyed it also, just to sit and relax it’s just perfect, thank you.
This was the first time we've stayed lodge type accommodation and we weren't entirely sure what to expect. I am happy to say that the whole week was a complete success. Ash lodge was warm and very comfortable and well-appointed. I think that everything that we could possibly have needed was there (and probably more). The kitchen was well-equipped (even a steamer, which is not so common and well laid-out. In fact the whole lodge was well-designed to get maximum use of the space. The provision and free use of the telephone was another unusual but very useful and welcome feature. The supply of books and videos offered some interesting titles, but what I liked most were the binoculars and the bird book. There wasn't a lot of bird life (due to it being winter, I suppose) but it was fun looking out for what there was and trying to identify them - a bullfinch was the most interesting bird we saw.
So, to sum up, everything was really first class which contributed greatly to a very enjoyable stay.
Our second stay in Ash Lodge. David and Denise have created a perfect place to stay in a beautiful setting.
The lodge is high spec, spacious, it has everything you need and much more. Comfortable beds with quality bedding, a well equipped kitchen. Floor to ceiling glass doors on two sides open out onto the decking overlooking the river and fields beyond.
Ash Lodge is a perfect base to explore the wonderful county of Shropshire.
Our recent three night mini-break with a couple of friends was enhanced by the super accomodation. Although the weather was wet and cold the lodge was lovely and warm and it was great to watch the river in full flow from the large windows. The lodge was extremely well equipped. The local pub, The Crown, serves excellent food (not on tues or wed) and has a pool table. It is easy to walk too down the lane, but take a torch. Thanks to the owners of the lodge for providing guests with all they need.
Our recent stay at Ash lodge was really relaxing. The lodge is in a lovely setting and it has everything you need. It was great to have enough crockery to be able to put a full dishwasher on rather than only having enough for 4 people hence not a full load. Lovely big bathroom. Good selection of books and DVD's, some board games too which certainly kept our evenings entertaining. Somewhere we would return to.
This was our third stay at the lodge we love everything about it, it’s surroundings, it’s so relaxing quiet we are hoping to come back again next year.
Ash Lodge is a beautifully spacious lodge next to the River Clun. It is tastefully decorated with comfortable sofas, glass windows with sliding doors that open out onto the decking, such a great place to sit and watch the wild life. The lodge has a well equipped kitchen with everything you need. Comfortable beds with quality bedding and a large bathroom with a bath and separate shower.
A great place for walking, Bury Ditches, Clun Castle also visiting National Trust houses or just sitting and relaxing with a good book.
Thanks to David and Denise for sharing your lovely lodge.
Booking and payment was easy and efficient. Directions good making it easy to find. The Chalet its self was wonderful, well laid out and stocked with everything we could need for a comfortable stay. Would defiantly consider staying again.
When I wrote the review below, I forgot to mention that the booking process is very efficient and that although the owner of the property is not local he is very friendly and helpful. He answered various email queries promptly and phoned while we were at the lodge to check that all was well.
We have just had our first stay at Ash Lodge and booked our next visit while we were still there, in spite of having chosen an exceptionally wet week! If you are looking for peace and quiet in a very beautiful setting look no further. This is a very comfortable, warm lodge and full of light. It well deserves the praise given by previous visitors and, like them, we enjoyed the marvellous local walks and the excellent meals at The Crown.
A very relaxing week away in the lodge which had everything you could want. The location is wonderful and a great base to explore further afield. Will definitely merit another visit.
We found the lodge spacious, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. As previous comment it is in the perfect position next to the river and very peaceful. We hope to return in the future.

Our 6th stay. Love the peace and quiet and that tranquil river view.
Best lodge location on site.
Can recommend The Crown Inn for food.
We will be back!
A lovely lodge in an idyllic setting. We had a wonderful week with our 2 small children, there are lots of walks and things to do within easy reach of the lodge, from Clunton Coppice and Bury Ditches on the doorstep, to Powys castle just over the welsh border.
Fantastic lodge , beautiful surroundings, well maintained, fully equipped . Perfect for relaxing ...lovely.
Thank you David
Outstanding & beautiful lodge in the most tranquil location right on the river Bank & overlooking the countryside from front & sides of Lodge. Pub 5 mins walk up a lane very friendly there. Walks are amazing on average around 4 miles through forest, tracks & fields well worth doing just for the views. The lodge has a proper homely feeling equipped with everything you need. Fantastic shower great WiFi lots of places close by to visit. Totally loved our stay & have already booked to return. You will fall in love with place as we.
Our 2nd stay at this wonderful Lodge and we'll certainly be back again. It's just beautiful and so peaceful and you relax the moment you walk through the front door and hear the babbling river and the birdsong!
Had lovely holiday at ash lodge, very well equipped, beautiful scenery
Recommend the White Horse pub in Clun lovely meals,
Everything was great
Thank you David
This is a lovely, clean, comfortable spacious lodge. Really well appointed and equipped with everything you need. It offers peace and tranquility alongside the river which was wonderful. A real credit to the owners. Thankyou
Our 5th or 6th stay here. Gorgeous weather this time. The lodge is as good as ever, extremely well equipped.
A great base to visit beautiful little villages, larger towns, plus Hereford and Shrewsbury. Very relaxing site, woken up by bird and animal noises and the river, no traffic or people noise. The local pub is shut again, but the Hundred House is welcoming as are the two Clun pubs and the Newcastle on Clun pub.
We had a fantastic stay here, very clean and tidy and well equipped. The floor to ceiling glass doors really allow you to enjoy the beautiful surroundings when relaxing inside, and the outdoor area over looks the river. Would high recommend staying here
Beautiful lodge in an ideal position and location right on the river, so quiet and peaceful perfect place to relax, nearby Clunton Coppice is a fantastic walk, will definitely be back.
We have a superb week at the lodge (June 2018), everything it there you could possible need, very comfortable beds. Clean and well sited for afternoon sun, the river gently running by is very relaxing. We wanted a base to tour the locality and it served that purpose perfectly, plenty of beautiful scenery and places of interest to visit.
Just back from a wonderful week in Ash Lodge. What a treat ! Going to sleep listening to the river, waking up to birdsong, breakfast on the patio and enjoying fantastic weather. Thank you for sharing the space.
This was our 5th stay here. We love it!
Peace, tranquility, river and hill views.
Modern, warm with all amenities and very comfortable beds.
We will return next year
Went as a family with two young children (6&7) we have visited before and not disappointed. We had a wonderful time, an excellent, beautiful place to escape and relax whilst reconnecting with nature. We were able to enjoy the sound of the stream and watch the birds from the comfort of Ash lodge. Well kept, lovely accommodation & fantastic walks and beautiful places to explore on the doorstep.
